Long drive to Delhi - 20 : Murudeshwara Temple, Karnataka

Shri Murudeshwara Temple is dedicated to Lord Mahesh or Lord Shiva. The beautiful Temple is situated on a hillock called Konduka with Arabian Sea in the background. Murudeshwara is part of Bhatkal taluka of Uttar Kannada in Karnataka. Edapaally-Panvel Road now called NH 66, passes close to it. Nearest railway station is Murudeshwara which is 2 km away. Nearest airport is Mangaluru 165 km away.  Plenty of budget & luxury accomodations are available. September to March is good time to visit as humidity is low. Of course temple can be visited any day irrespective of season.

Gopuram is 237.5 feet or twenty two stories high. It is named as Raja Gopuram. There are paid lifts taking you up for a beautiful panaromic view.There is one huge statue of Lord Shiva with backdrop of sea which overwhelms the visitors. The statue is 123 feet high & was crafted by Kashinath & his team of Shimoga district, Kranataka. It was financed by businessman & philanthropist R N Shetty & inaugurated in 2008.

Pooja timings are: morning 6.30 to 7.30, afternoon 12.15 to 1 & evening 7.15 to 8.15.

Lifts are available for going up to 22nd floor. Golden Shikharas in the background are of temple. It has main deity Sri Mridesa Linga in an underground sanctum
